about the artistTheresa Long shares a passion for the natural world through her paintings, gardens and conservation efforts at her family farm. Tending and reconstructing Prairie, Stream, Glade and Wetland habitats provides endless inspiration and dedication to her work of Painting for Conservation.
Interpreting Missouri native botanicals, larger than life, in mesmerizing detail, she elevates their status as worthy of our care and conservation. Her use of intricate and specific details invites viewers to engage with nuance of color, structure and movement. Working from observation, in the field, garden and studio, her color studies and preliminary drawings serve as both finished works and reference for longer studies developed overtime. Sharing those moments when ephemeral color and movement of her subjects has literally "stopped her in her tracks", she hopes to build a growing appreciation of native plants. Her works can be found in private and public collections throughout the United States.
